What is a GFCI Outlet?

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter — an electrical outlet with built-in 'Test' and 'Reset' buttons that automatically shuts off power when it detects a ground fault (electricity flowing through water or a person). Required by code in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor areas.
